I absolutely love my hair! It is so much healthier. When I decided to go natural, I was afraid that I was going to have to get my hair chopped off. Surprisingly, I never had to get my hair chopped off. Thankfully, I found a hairstylist in Indianapolis that specializes in Natural Hair. She does the technique called Ceramic Phison. This technique straightens the new growth until it is totally natural. Its great! The products I use for my hair are the Design Essential line. I also use Organic Pure Coconut Oil on my hair and scalp. I usually get my hair washed and styled every two weeks. In between time, I usually just wrap my hair and keep coconut oil on my hair and scalp. My usual style is a silk out. I also like the rod set look and the two-strand twist.
The hardest part of my natural hair journey was that I did not know how long it was going to take for my hair to go completely natural and I wasn’t sure how to maintain my hair. Also, I was sad when I had to depart from my hairstylist who had been by hairstylist for the past 20 years. She is great!!! I was a bit nervous trying something new. But, the proudest moment was when my husband told me that he loved the way my hair looked and felt. He was amazed how long my hair had grown. I guess he just love to run his fingers through my hair.
The best advice I can give to those who are trying to make the decision to go natural is to do research. Talk to other women who have made the transition. Compare the difference in the cost of going natural verse perms. Consider the condition of your hair. Consider what styles you like. It’s all about what makes you feel good about yourself. As long as you are satisfied, that’s all that matters.
